Cecil Tian (also known as SentientCookie), is a Canadian illustrator, comic artist, and street artist. She holds a BDes in illustration from OCAD University.
Cecil’s work focuses heavily on elements of storytelling and conveying the nuances of sentience and the human condition. She strives to capture subtleties in fleeting thoughts and emotions that we experience and translate them into visual/sequential art. Her work intends to connect viewers with themselves by depicting and expressing common, shared experiences, empowering them to take what resonates and feel seen and heard.
Cecil has illustrated for various comics and children’s books, most notably 6 children’s books for United Nations, featuring stories written by child authors. She has published an original comic book “Echoes of the Brain”, a collection of narrative work of the experiences of her original character Dylan Qin and his journey to becoming a prominent musician.
When not drawing or writing comics, she is usually reading them. Cecil also enjoys live music and sticker bombing the entire city.
